How many people can you work with? -For performances, we can perform for any size of audience, from 10 to 10,000. For workshops and residencies where we train people to perform, we can work with groups ranging from 10 students to 300 students, depending on the time and scope of our program. For large groups (50 - 300 people) we would conduct several workshops with smaller groups, with each group learning a different scene from the story, and then we piece the entire production together at the end.
What ages do you work with? - We can perform for and work with kids and adults of all ages. We have worked with and performed for everyone from pre-school children to seniors. We can adapt our workshops and our performances to suit any range of ages, from the very young to the not so young.
How many people are in your company? - We are a family theater company with three members: Irene (Ike) Vasquez, Ph.D. and her husband Dan Runyan and their son, Benito Vasquez-Runyan. On some productions we may have other performers or interns traveling with us. On most tours, we drive one car, and if it is a multi-day residency requiring a hotel stay, we require one hotel room.
How large a space do you need to perform? - We can perform most of our shows on a variety of stages, from gymnasiums to libraries to auditoriums. A high ceiling is helpful. Workshops require a big open room where kids can move around (like a gym or multipurpose room). For our Blacklight Student Productions, where we train students to perform in blacklight stagings of myths, we need a space that can be darkened completely (either no windows, or windows that can be covered).
What lighting and sound equipment do you need? - Access to an electrical outlet needed for workshops and performances. A microphone is usually helpful, if available. We can generally use your facilities sound and light system, but we can also bring our own if necessary. For our Blacklight Student Productions, we bring our own blacklights.
How far will you travel? - We will travel any distance on planet earth. Obviously, the travel costs will increase the further we need to travel from Kalamazoo, Michigan.
